PanelSight 1.0.11: knobs rebuilt for touchscreens, and knobs on the gauges

PanelSight 1.0.11 changes how knobs work on a touchscreen, and adds knobs to the round gauges: the altimeter, the CDI and the heading indicator.

Knobs on touchscreens

When you tap a knob, its interaction area now stays open until you tap somewhere else. It used to close after a short time. New + and − buttons move the knob exactly one step, which makes up for the click you would feel on a real knob. Knobs also make a click sound as they turn, with their own volume control.

This release also fixes a single tap acting twice, which made some controls switch on and then off again right away, and a problem that sometimes made the interaction area much too large.

Knobs on the gauges

Gauges now have knobs you can turn: the altimeter's baro knob and Kollsman drum, the OBS knob on CDIs, and the heading knob on the directional gyro. Turn the heading knob to correct drift, or push it to align the gyro with the magnetic compass.

GNS 430 and 530

The range rocker and the CLR key on the GNS 430 and 530 now handle both a short press and press-and-hold. An aircraft whose only display is a GNS 430 can now use the PFD slot, and a change during a flight no longer blanks that screen.

King Air 350i

The King Air 350i's two G3X displays now each have their own slot, PFD and MFD. You can put both on a monitor, and neither one disappears from the Instrument Switcher.

Update checks

PanelSight now checks for updates every hour, not only when it starts. It often stays open in the taskbar for days, so a check at startup alone could miss a new version for a long time.

Who this is for

• If you use a touchscreen, knobs are easier to set to an exact value.
• If you fly aircraft with round gauges, you can now set the altimeter, the CDI and the heading indicator from PanelSight.
• If you fly with a GNS 430 or 530, the range rocker and the CLR key now work as expected.
• If you fly the King Air 350i, both G3X displays can go on a monitor.

How to update

PanelSight checks for new versions by itself. When one is out, a notice appears next to the PanelSight icon in the Windows taskbar. Click the notice, then click Update now in Settings. PanelSight downloads the update, installs it and starts again on its own. You can also run the installer from the download page again.

Updating always installs the newest version, which includes everything in this release.
