Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Chase This Light, S.L. ("we") handles your personal data when you use this website, sign up for updates, buy a PanelSight license, or use the PanelSight app. We collect only what we need, and we never sell it.

Who is responsible

Chase This Light, S.L., the developer of PanelSight, is the controller of the personal data described in this notice. Its registered address is Avda. de Cerdanyola, 75-77, 1a planta, 08172 Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona), Spain, and its NIF is B05619168. For any privacy question or request, email contact@panelsight.net.

What we collect, and why

• Your email address — if you signed up for our update list, or when you write to us. We use it to answer you and to send you news about PanelSight: availability and launch updates, new features and releases, and related offers.
• Basic technical data — our hosting provider may process limited information such as your IP address and browser type in server logs, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We don't use this to identify or profile you.

The PanelSight app and purchases

• Purchase data (name, email, billing country, payment details) is collected and processed by Polar, the checkout provider that sells you the license, under Polar's privacy policy. We receive only your email address and order reference, and never see your payment details.
• License validation — when the app starts with a key stored, it checks with Polar, which issues the keys, that the key is still valid. That sends your key, an identifier for this computer, and — when you activate a key or move your license to another computer — your computer's Windows name, which is how your machines are labelled so you can tell them apart. Your IP address is visible as part of the connection. Nothing is sent while you're on the trial or the free tier.
• Update checks — the app periodically asks our download server whether a newer version exists. The request holds no personal data, but your IP address is visible to the service hosting our files.

App usage statistics

The app reports how it is used, so we can see how many people use PanelSight, which aircraft to support next and which display setups to design for: usage milestones such as installing it or activating a license, and one report per flight with the aircraft type, how long you flew, and how PanelSight and your monitors were set up.

You can turn this off at any time: untick "Send usage statistics" in the app's settings.

Reports carry a code for the installation, not for you; it changes every year and never includes your license key, name, email address or computer name. They go to Umami, the analytics service we also use on this website, which sees your IP address, estimates the country and region from it, and does not store it.

The app does not record how you fly — no position, route, altitude or speed — and we use the reports only as statistics, never to identify a customer or to link one to a purchase.

Legal basis

We process your email on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you signed up. Technical/security processing relies on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a safe website. License validation is processed because it's necessary to perform the license agreement (Art. 6(1)(b)), and abuse prevention relies on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). App usage statistics rely on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in measuring how PanelSight is used, which aircraft and display setups it is used with, and improving it.

Opting out. You can switch the app usage statistics off at any time, in the app's settings.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your data. We share it only with service providers acting as processors on our behalf: the email-delivery provider that stores our update list and sends our emails, Umami (Umami Software, Inc.), which stores the app usage statistics and this site's visitor statistics for us, and Cloudflare, which hosts our downloads and our license-move service. We'll update this notice if those providers change.

Polar, as merchant of record, is a separate controller of your purchase data: your contract of sale is with Polar, and its privacy policy applies to the checkout. Polar also stores the license keys and activations described above.

Separately, when you load this website your IP address is necessarily visible to the services that deliver and measure it — our host (GitLab Pages), Google Fonts (which serves the site's typefaces), Cloudflare Web Analytics and Umami (both cookieless visitor statistics), and YouTube (Google), which serves the demo videos embedded on our homepage. These receive technical data only; your email address is never shared with them.

Most of these providers are in the United States, so your data may be processed there, under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

• Your email — for as long as you're subscribed to these updates. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time, and we'll remove it promptly.
• License data — kept while the license exists.
• App usage statistics and website statistics — no longer than 25 months.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. For visitor statistics we use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Umami, chosen for their privacy-first approach: they measure visits without setting cookies. If you play a video on our homepage, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. Apart from that, we store nothing in your browser.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, object to processing, and withdraw your consent at any time (which won't affect processing already carried out). To exercise any of these, email contact@panelsight.net.

App usage statistics are a special case: they aren't linked to your name, email or license, so we normally cannot tell which reports came from you. Switching them off in the app stops any further reports; if you want the ones we already hold deleted, write to us and we'll explain what we need to find them.

If you believe we've mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or your local supervisory authority.

PanelSight is an independent add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and is not affiliated with Microsoft, Asobo Studio, or Garmin.
